I like to share some easy but important things I do for better looking skin for the spring:
Spring clean your body and face. In order to do this we have to make sure
all your skin care products have not expired, or contaminated with
bacteria causing breakouts.
My check list: Sun care products usually expire in two years. So check
expiration date on package or throw out if you have had it over two years.
In addition, make sure your SPF has zinc oxide (the best) and/or titanian
dioxide. Both minerals, not chemicals.
Wash throughly brushes used for both face and body with anti bacterial soap or either buy new ones. Bacteria loves to settle in these brushes causing breakouts on face and body.
Throw out old make up, eye shadow, mascara. Most expire after 2 years. I hardly ever get a breakout, except when I used an old eye shadow and wake up with a little bump on my eye lid. It's always old eye shadow. You'd think I would learn by now!
If you have breakouts around your hair line, the probable cause might be sodium laurel sulfate in your shampoo (and detergent). It is a suds producing chemical used especially for Americans who feel suds clean better(but not true).
But it irritates sensitive skin causing breakouts. Buy a small bottle of organic shampoo and conditioner to see if that makes a difference.
Pillows may be contaminated. Someone said she freezes her pillows before she uses them to kill mites etc. I think I might try that. A lot of clients break out on upper chest hugging pillows. I always told them to disinfect pillow cases but maybe the culprit is in the pillow.
Cross train your skin for Spring. I will use another brand of skin care for awhile instead of my usual one. I believe your cells get tired of the same products after a year or less so I will replace it with another good one until it's used up, and then go back to my favorite one. Just like your muscles, your cells need a stimulus....something just as good but a little different to wake up your skin and make your skin work harder.
If you have any tips for good skin, I'd love to hear from you and share this with our readers.
As I'm trying to spring clean my house now, I'm thinking of what products I need to throw out now. It's not fun but necessary.
Good luck to your Spring cleaning!
As always, sending love to your beautiful skin!
