Easy Skin Care Tips Using Targeted Vitamins/Minerals for Anti Aging, Acne and Sensitive Skin:

Easy Skin Care Tips Using Targeted Vitamins/Minerals for Anti Aging, Acne and Sensitive Skin:

Do you want perfect skin? Well Dr. Perricone, the anti aging guru, says the one a day multivitamin approach is not enough. "Now we have highly targeted antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and minerals that can do every thing from repair cells and burn fat to increase muscle tone."

I really believe taking "targeted" vitamins/minerals/amino acids daily for the past three years have greatly improve my muscle tone on my face and diminished my redness in my face.

I take only one of Eminence's Firm Skin vitamin daily and fish oil, and when I'm finished with firm skin vitamins, I alternate with Eminence Calm Skin vitamins/minerals. I don't like taking tons of pills so one targeted multiple vitamin/mineral/amino acids into one pill is great.

Also, I have seen great result with "targeted" vitamins/minerals with my acne clients especially my college kids. One mother and acne teenager were so appreciative after facial and after using a few of the right products and Eminence Clear skin vitamins/minerals.

Her daughter's skin had cleared up over 70% within three weeks. They were from California and her daughter had monthly facials for a few years with harmful and painful extractions. And her skin never improved. "Just come in for more extractions" exclaimed her either unknowledgeable Esthetician or money-hungry one. I'm sorry, I don't have any tolerance for greed!

Another aging contributor is the lack of water we are able to absorb as we age. Absorb...that 's the key.

"Putting back key building blocks like lecithin, glucosamine, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and zinc into your body will help attract water to the tissues and reduce inflammation"says Dr. Murad, professor of dermatology at UCLA. And drinking more water might not be enough.

So to recap:
1.Take "targeted" vitamins/minerals/amino acids for your concern i.e. aging, sensitivity or acne.
2. As we age, body doesn't absorb all that water we try to drink daily. These targeted vitamins/minerals help with absorption. Young skin, like babies, have over 85%water in body. We have less and less as we age.
3. Use proper skin care products daily. Ask a knowledgeable skin care professional.
4. Avoid bad chemicals. Stay as natural as you can. Organic would be best.
5. Holiday time equals more alcoholic drink which equals dehydration of our organs (skin is largest organ) which equals more wrinkles. So start taking those "targeted" vitamins now and drink a glass of water after each cocktail.
6. As always ask your medical provider before taking vitamins/minerals/amino acids etc. And please eat balanced diet and moderate exercise.

Oh How I Love Coconut Oil for My Skin!!!! July 2012

Oh How I Love Coconut Oil for My Skin!!!! July 2012
Great for Hydration.

I have been cooking with coconut oil for the last 3 months and my doggies and I are feeling much better. They have more energy and their coat is softer, and my skin is more hydrated.

I'm not sure if coconut oil did it so I looked up the ingredients in coconut oil and was amazed at what it does for us!

Coconut oils have Medium Chain Fatty Acids of Lauric Acid, Caprylic Acid, and Capric Acid. All of the these exhibit antiviral, antimicrobial, antiprotozoal and anti fungal properties. Helping to destroy fungus, bacteria and viruses!

Nutritionists, natural doctors etc. use these medium chains of fatty acids to help clear up candida
(Caprylic acid and diet) ; herpes, measles, influenza, hepatic C , blood pressure, diabetes and even HIV(Lauric acid). Of course check with your health care provider about this.

Did you know that during World War II , coconut water was used as an emergency short -term intravenous hydration fluid because it has high levels of sugar and salts.

My dogs and I love about a tablespoon of coconut oil instead of olive oil or butter to scramble eggs and to stir fry shrimps or chicken. We also love the flavor.

I salute Eminence Skin Products for their Coconut Moisturizer for face and body. Of course they have added other ingredients in the coconut oil to fight wrinkles and anti aging (their natural retinol complex and green apple stem cells).

It is amazing how these natural and organic plants, fruits, nuts, and herbs help us on all levels. I've heard coconut oil can't be "patented " since it's a fruit and nut, and not many companies are interested in this . Most companies want to produce a "chemical", to own this patent and make more money. Greed, greed!

The more I learn more about Eminence the more I appreciate them...staying close to nature and how nature in its" raw " form is more beneficial to our largest organ, our skin. Thank you also to other natural companies using all of the coconut...oil, juice, meat for our good health. So everyone buy a coconut and enjoy it all in it's natural form and support natural skin care lines.

Get out of the way toxic chemicals and allow nature's best food supply heal and nurture us.

Sending love to your healthy skin and love and appreciation to the coconut,

Say no to GMO. Demand labeling of this at least in USA if we can't stop this. See Bitter Seed!

Go Organic....the price will go down if we all do this.

Easy Skin Care Tips For Dry, Itchy, Irritated Skin: June 2012

Easy Skin Care Tips For Dry, Itchy, Irritated Skin: June 2012
(for Babies, Adolescents and Adults)

The other day I had the best time giving facials to my friend's three sons ages 9, 10 and 13.

Last year I gave them facials for their birthday and this year their number one request, enthusiastically said, "facials!"

They are great kids, beautiful skin but dry. Very dry for their age. As I always do when I give facials, I ask questions: what are you using to clean your skin and even name brand if possible. I know their mom's philosophy on natural or organic products, but being mom to 3 active kids is hard to monitor their daily showers.

Two boys said they used the shampoo for face and body and of course hair each day. Too harsh for their face and drying. See below.

The other youngest one uses a body wash for face. Too harsh. Only use body wash on body and not face.

So their protective barrier on their face (acid mantel) had been stripped of its natural oils. The older son was afraid of getting hormonal acne so he was too pro active and used an exfoliating wash almost daily so he wouldn't get acne. His beautiful skin was so stripped of its natural lipids that he was irritated under the nose.

Praise them for cleaning their faces daily, but with just too harsh ingredients.

I recommended a gentle wash (sensitive) since we want to restore their skins' natural ph. balance. And use a sun screen while in vacation in Hawaii of zinc oxide and not chemicals. And let the natural sea water heal their skin....mother nature..the beautiful restorative ocean water will heal almost any irritation.

Adults make this common mistake of over scrubbing if they have breakouts or to prevent breakouts. It always is counter productive.

Their are some great natural products to calm, sooth, restore the ph. balance in your skin. Make sure you first eliminate the culprit causing these conditions in the first place, and then choose restorative serums, oils, cleansers, toners.

The names, "cooling, soothing, calming, ph balancing" are key words to look for in choosing a balancing product for irritated, itchy, dry skin.

Avoid these ingredients: sodium laurel sulfate, ammonium laurel sulfate, cocamdopropyl betaine, ester oils, silicon oil, mineral oil, dyes, perfumes.
The list goes on and on, and on, and on! Just look for natural or organic. It's easier.

Babies usually develop eczema, irritated skin from chemicals in diaper wipes and other chemicals in soaps, moisturizers. And don't over indulge in putting so much stuff on the baby's skin. Don't strip its natural barrier that is gently but assuredly developing. Don't rush mother nature. Warm water is better than too much soap or any soap. Also use cotton sheets which are safer, less harsh on their baby skin. Of course, always consult your pediatrician for his advice.

This is a good tip to make your BODY smooth and soft:

Do you want to have healthy skin on your Body? Then start using genuine plant oils like almond, sesame, olive, avocado, jojoba, sunflower, Shea butter,Argan oils, wild rose oils etc.

There are many to choose. I like oils for the body because it seems to penetrate more into the skin as oppose to lotions and some creams. Plant oils are more pure, close to the plant base and don't have emulsions like creams and lotions. I'm looking for purity and maybe some of these emulsions have silicon or mineral, esters oils in with the oils.

Remember your Body is your first defense from harsh chemicals, wind, sun, climate so restore it's natural lipid barrier (defense) by using natural plant oils!

Tips to thinks about: a facial every season can help unclog pores from the winter, clean the sweat, dirt from the summer and increase circulation and nutrients in your skin for more radiant youthful skin. Plus it's sooo relaxing!

Did you know doctors long ago use to mostly prevent diseases. Now, unfortunately they mostly treat diseases.

Easy Skin Care Tips for Spring! April 2012

Easy Skin Care Tips for Spring! April 2012

I like to share some easy but important things I do for better looking skin for the spring:

Spring clean your body and face. In order to do this we have to make sure
all your skin care products have not expired, or contaminated with
bacteria causing breakouts.

My check list: Sun care products usually expire in two years. So check
expiration date on package or throw out if you have had it over two years.

In addition, make sure your SPF has zinc oxide (the best) and/or titanian
dioxide. Both minerals, not chemicals.

Wash throughly brushes used for both face and body with anti bacterial soap or either buy new ones. Bacteria loves to settle in these brushes causing breakouts on face and body.

Throw out old make up, eye shadow, mascara. Most expire after 2 years. I hardly ever get a breakout, except when I used an old eye shadow and wake up with a little bump on my eye lid. It's always old eye shadow. You'd think I would learn by now!

If you have breakouts around your hair line, the probable cause might be sodium laurel sulfate in your shampoo (and detergent). It is a suds producing chemical used especially for Americans who feel suds clean better(but not true).
But it irritates sensitive skin causing breakouts. Buy a small bottle of organic shampoo and conditioner to see if that makes a difference.

Pillows may be contaminated. Someone said she freezes her pillows before she uses them to kill mites etc. I think I might try that. A lot of clients break out on upper chest hugging pillows. I always told them to disinfect pillow cases but maybe the culprit is in the pillow.

Cross train your skin for Spring. I will use another brand of skin care for awhile instead of my usual one. I believe your cells get tired of the same products after a year or less so I will replace it with another good one until it's used up, and then go back to my favorite one. Just like your muscles, your cells need a stimulus....something just as good but a little different to wake up your skin and make your skin work harder.

If you have any tips for good skin, I'd love to hear from you and share this with our readers.

As I'm trying to spring clean my house now, I'm thinking of what products I need to throw out now. It's not fun but necessary.

Good luck to your Spring cleaning!

As always, sending love to your beautiful skin!

Easy Skin Care Tips for Brown Spots, Wrinkles and Anti Aging:

Easy Skin Care Tips for Brown Spots, Wrinkles and Anti Aging:

To fade brown spots on the face and to smooth out wrinkles or to diminish fine lines people use retinol or better yet more organic products that have natural vitamin A (retinol) in their skin care line.

Retinol is a technical (chemical) name for Vitamin A, and and it is a prescription used as a topical treatment for your face. It is used also for mild acne , and severe acne (acutane). Other names closely associated with retinol are tretinoin, isothermon, and retinal palmitate.

In addition to helping your skin, retinol, especially strong retinol, can cause irritation, sensitivity, dryness, and/or redness of the face. And retinol can make your skin more susceptible to the sun's ultraviolet rays and make dark spots or age spots darker so be sure to use it at night only and sparingly.

In natural forms Vitamin A is found in green and yellow vegetables especially carrots and spinach; and is also found in egg yokes, fish liver oil, marine fish, and liver. So please eat an assortment of these great foods.

Retinol works by stimulating the production of our natural collagen (moisture) and as you know when our skin is plumped up from moisture, our fine line wrinkles kinda disappear. I used the analogy with my clients about a grape. That grape is big and beautiful. When we get too much sun on the grape and not enough moisture because the sun is making it evaporate, that lovely grape turns into a raisin...all wrinkles.

However if you overdo retinol, you overstimulate and suck the life force out of the cells; and there is no life force underneath. Your skin looks lifeless, coloress. Not plump, nor vibrant like it was born to be and look. I personally in my 60s can't or won't use retinol. I look older.

What can you do?

There are several things such as using more natural retinol alternatives such as Eminence new line. They use chicory root and tara tree complex that "mimics and outperforms the oft prescribed conventional retinol."

In Ayurvedic Gotu Kola is the best form of retinol or Vitamin A and is used in Helena Meyer's anti aging line.

Get gentle but effective enzyme peels. I had a client whose face looked dirty from living in Colorado, playing in the sun, and in her 30's. Well, after I exfoliated her using gotu kola, her skin appeared lighter, brighter, and more youthful. She, needless to say, was thrilled.

She returns monthly for a facial, and I alternate her facials with enzyme peels or the gotu kola exfoliant. Gentle, no down time nor irritation, but a nice bright, refreshed natural- looking skin.

She also helps maintains this by using a couple of lighting or brightening products at home, and of course using natural SPF 's every 2 hours on her skin.

So there are natural, safer alternatives for helping brown spots, wrinkles, and anti aging without a prescription or toxic chemicals.

To Recap:
Start trying:

A. Natural retinol alternative to retinol: chicory root and tara tree complex
such as Eminence's.
B. Gotu Kola complex ...Ayurvedic
C. Enzyme Peels
D. Eating balance of Vitamin A foods
E. SPF organic ...apply often, every one or two hours.
F. I also like a gentle lactic acid exfoliant.
G. Patience...all of these safer, natural things take time, but you are
going in the right direction and your skin will love you. Also start teaching
your pre teens, teens or grand children.

Always sending love to your beautiful skin,

Easy Skin Care Tips for Acne, Inflammation, Anti-Aging:

Easy Skin Care Tips for Acne, Inflammation, Anti-Aging:

Chronic Inflammation and acne go hand in hand as well as aging our body. When we do things that inflame our body, the liver is overloaded with removing so many toxins we've given it, so sebum production is overstimulated producing more blocked pores and bacteria creeps in to finish you. Results: ACNE. You can imagine how it ages the body i.e. heart disease etc.

The Enlightened Masters and Saints say: So above, So below.

All of your life's journey is a Balance of Physical, Mental and Spiritual.
If you can "balance" these three all day long, at work, play, sleep then
I bet your skin will be perfect!

Pause for a moment and think about that.

People now work 12 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week. The stress, fast food, no time to read inspirational stories and definitely no time to relax the mind, meditate or observe nature so how can you incorporate physical, mental and physical into your life?

What takes up more of your time? Work, kids, etc.????

The Physical things that "inflame"us are eating too much bad fats (too hard to digest), processed foods, not enough sleep, too much drinking alcohol,
food allergies ( milk, cheese, gluten foods), not enough of moderate exercise.

The Mental things that " inflame" us are worry, worry, worry. That mind works overtime and we've programmed it to think tooooooo much. Remember what you dwell on, will probably create it. Do you dwell on lack of things? How about dwelling on abundance, learning lessons God sends us, etc.
And then Act on these good things He gives us. Like see God's perfect plan for you. He's just agitating you, inflaming you, so you'll wake up and start doing good, healthy things and see that He is nudging you to "wake up" learn how to take care of yourself.

Spiritual are divine teachings for you to "catch" and they are ideally incorporated into your mental, physical challenges All Day long.
When I try to stay more spiritual I become the observer of things happening to me. I become more detached from the emotional upheavals and look for a Higher Lesson to learn from this. And I have this faith that God protects, guides, and loves me and You All the time.

Valentine Day is approaching. Look up Love. Love yourself more and more.
And eat organic cocoa!

Chocolate..dark cocoa is great for you..in moderation. It helps reduce inflammation! It helps protect your body from free radicals (oxidants) which is a major contributor of inflammation . A study from researchers in Argentina found that "procyanidins from cocoa may exert beneficial effects in pathologies such as inflammatory diseases." quoted Dr. Steve E. Warren.

I love giving a Chocolate Facial and receiving one. It is hydrating, my skin feels soft, and I'm imagining the flavanols (anti oxidants) ,my soldiers, eating up the free radicals (enemies) so my skin can receive nourishment. I am truly loving my skin this Valentines Day.

Please love, nuture yourself and others you love this Day and hopefully this will be a habit all year long.

Sending love and balance to you always,

Last Years Winners for Anti Aging, Acne, Sensitive, Hydrated SKIN!

Last Years Winners for Anti Aging, Acne, Sensitive, Hydrated SKIN!

I have to share products my clients, colleagues and I used last year that deserve Oscars for correcting and greatly improving their skin whether it was acne, firmness, sensitivity, hydration, rosacea or aging. Drum Roll!!!!!!
It's Eminence's Vitamins!!! VitaSkin Vitamin Solutions!

I have to be believer and test things before I recommend products for you and my clients and after a year of seeings these vitamins work for me and many others, I'm a big believer!

After a month of takingEminence's Firm Skin vitamins, my skin was more clear, more evenly toned and firmer for a
lady in her 60's. Also everyone else here at the spa noticed improvements.
Lori, who works here at the spa, used the vitamins and after a month her acne was cleared and her face was more evenly toned. Many, many more testimonials to share but no room. But please call me at the spa.

I used to take several vitamins for different things now I take one of Eminence's and see much better results and it cost less money. I'll leave it up to the scientists to formulate exact things for me.

Eminence vitamins are unique in two ways: they have a "pill in pill" system i.e. two pills in one capsule and in addition 3 different vitamins to choose for your skin: Clear Skin, Calm Skin and Firm Skin.

So if you have aging skin, dehydrated skin, rosacea, redness, acne, and/or blemishes you have 3 different vitamins you can choose. Some of us alternate, one month we'll use Calm Skin and next month use Firm or Clear skin.

The pill in pill system allows your intestines to absorb necessary ingredients before they are somewhat destroyed in your stomach preventing good absorption for you and wasting your money.

As Eminence states: "the Benefits: 2 supplements in one offering more amazing results. Multiple-Phase Release System for optimum distribution in the body when and where the nutrients are needed most. Ingredients remain stable and inactive until they reach the digestive tract."

The other Oscar goes to Helena Meyers' Exfoliant/FaceLift ! Lovingly made for us daily in Boulder by Ayurvedic practitioner,Helena and her husband, Bob. I love, love this! If I can't get a facial, I use this at home. We sell it off the shelf because it works and every, yes, every ingredient is totally organic. She is very adamant about that! And that's why her whole skin care line is so popular here and in Boulder!

As Helena says, "our Herbal Exfoliator/Face Lift is an amazing, new anti-aging product that restores skin elasticity and tone. It is the healthy and safe answer to alpha-hydroxy face peels, as it removes dead skin cells and lightens skin tone."

To sum it up: Eminence unique two-in one vitamins for any skin type
and Helena Meyers Exfoliant/Face Lift get the Oscars for really great, younger and healthier you in this New Year. Remember your skin looks good when you take care of the inside too! And both of these products do this.
Even though we eat healthy, we still need extra boost of good nutrition!

Looking forward to discovering and sharing great, healthy products and tips for your skin.

Sending love to your beautiful skin,
